                 10 days Borneo Sarawak Family Adventure (ex Kuching)

 

Day 1: KUCHING
Upon arrival in Kuching, Sarawak, you are met and transferred to your hotel, where you meet your tour leader and participate in the pre-trip briefing. In the evening we will have an enjoyable dinner at Top Spot Seafood restaurant. The Tour Leader will bring you to Top Spot.

Day 2: KUCHING
In the morning we visit Semenggok Orangutan centre. See these big apes living freely in the forest coming to be fed and in the afternoon we take the ‘heritage trail’ to see the old building of the colony time, Sarawak museum, Chinese temple. An evening sunset cruise along the Sarawak River. We overnight at Sheraton 4 Point hotel. (Breakfast)

Day 3: BAKO PARK Today we visit Bako National park. We drive for an hour from Kuching to Bako jetty and catch the boat to Bako Park. Check in at the Park Chalet and prepare for the nature walk along the well marked trail to see flora and fauna. Proboscis monkeys and monitor lizards can be easily seen in the surrounding mangrove forest. Macaque monkeys and wild boar are easily seen near the Park accommodation. (Breakfast)

Day 4: BAKO NATIONAL PARK Plan your day to relax on the beach at Bako Park. Take the boat to the beach. Smaller creatures can be easily spotted on the beaches; fiddler crabs with one normal and one over-grown claw and hermit crabs living in borrowed sea- shells. Return late in the afternoon to Park HQ and overnight at the Park chalet. (Breakfast)

Day 5: SARAWAK CULTURAL VILLAGE – DAMAI BEACH RESORT

This morning we return by boat to Bako jetty and travel overland Damai. We check in at Damai Beach Resort. In the afternoon we visit Sarawak Cultural Village situated on the foothills of legendary Mount Santubong is Sarawak’s fascinating cultural showcase, the award winning “Sarawak Cultural Village”. Here, it is possible to see Sarawak’s ethnic diversity at a glance. The handicraft is both bewildering and tempting, including the Kain Songket (Malay cloth with gold inlay), Pua Kumbu (Iban housewives textiles), Melanau Terendak (sunhat), Bidayuh tambok (basket), Iban parang (swords), Orang Ulu wood carving and Chinese ceramic.The 45-minute cultural performance of songs, dances and entertainment is something you will not want to miss out during your visit to Sarawak. We overnight at Holiday Inn Damai Beach Resort. (Breakfast)

Day 6: MIRI Free leisure day at the beach. At 2.30 pm we travel to Kuching airport for your flight to Miri departing at 1630hrs. Miri, the second City of Sarawak, is situated in northern Sarawak, close to the Sarawak-Brunei border on the legendary island of Borneo. The City has grown phenomenally since oil was first discovered in the early 1900s, burgeoning into the modern and dynamic business, commercial and educational centre it is today. It is also the stepping-off point to many of Sarawak’s world-famous national parks such as the Mulu National Park, Niah National Park, Lambir Hills National Park and Loagan Bunut National Park, as well as other major tourist attractions. We overnight at Marriot Spa and Resort. (Breakfast)

Day 7: MULU NATIONAL PARK

Today we fly to Mulu National Park. We take the plank walk (3 km) through the rainforest to visit Deer Cave and Lang’s Cave. Deer Cave is the biggest passage yet mapped. Close to Deer Cave is Lang’s Cave, small but beautifully decorated. In the evening we will wait at the entrance to Deer Cave, where thousand of bats emerge most evenings to hunt for insects over the forest. We return late in the afternoon to Park HQ and transfer to Royal Mulu Resort. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 8: MULU NATIONAL PARK

Morning we relax either at the swimming pool or rent the kayak for a ride along the Melinau river or rent the mountain bike for a ride along the Penan village. In the afternoon we take the canopy walk (one of the longest canopy in Malaysia). We overnight at Royal Mulu Resort. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 9; MULU NATIONAL PARK

This morning we go by boat to the source of the Clearwater River . Visit Wind and Clearwater Cave. Clearwater cave contain one of the world’s major underground rivers, plus dry passage adding up to 107 km. We reach Clearwater Spring by boat, then climb to the cave’s main entrance: visit lady’s Cave and the underground river. The pool at Clearwater Spring is a nice place to swim and picnic. A few hundred metres down river lies Cave of the Winds with unusual calcite formations, including the tall, slender stalagmites in King’s Room. The main caves have steps and paths, as well as electric lighting. We return late in the afternoon to Royal Mulu Resort. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 10: ONWARD TRAVEL HOME
This morning standby for the flight to Miri and onward travel home. (Breakfast)

Itinerary

 

DAY 1    KOTA KINABALU – KINABALU PARK –PARK HOSTEL

Meet our driver at hotel lobby/ Airport (Evening) at 1000hrs and proceed with 2 hours drive to Kinabalu Park.  Upon arrival, proceed to Park Headquarters for check-in and climbing registration. You will be given a ID Tag to wear at all times.

Free at own leisure to explore the area.

Dinner at Balsam Restaurant and overnight at Kinabalu Park.

 

DAY 2   PARK HEADQUARTERS – TIMPOHON GATE – LABAN RATA

Breakfast and collect your packed lunch from Balsam Restaurant.  Proceed to Park Headquarters and meet your Mountain Guide thereafter you will be transferred to the Timpohon Gate (Power Station) at 1,866.4m where the Summit Trail starts.  From here, Depending on individual’s fitness level, it is an approximate 4 to 6 hour climb for the day.

DAY 3  LOW’S PEAK – KINABALU PARK HEAD QUARTERS – KOTA KINABALU

0200hrs. Wake up for preparation before journey to the summit, at 0230hrs-0300hrs climbs for approximately 3-hour track. There are ladders, hand railings and ropes to help you over the steeper parts. You reach the final destination at Low’s peak, the summit of Borneo at 4,095.2m. As you wait in the cold, dawn gradually creeps over the horizon, illuminating the darkness with the light of a new day. Watching sunrise at the top has been described by travelers everywhere as a life -enriching experience In clear weather, you can almost see all of Sabah spread out below. From this vantage point, you will also see a dramatic drop more than 1,000 m drop – Low’s Gully. A chasm stretching 16 km. in length, it separates the summit plateau into the western and eastern plateau,

Descending back to the rest house before 10.00am. At around 10.00am, clouds usually begin to form. These swirling clouds could obstruct visibility. Breakfast at Laban Rata Resthouse and descend to Timpohon Gate.  You will be then transfer to Park Head Quarters.  You may obtain your climbing certificate and late lunch served at Balsam Restaurant.

Return to Kota Kinabalu and drop off to your hotel.

Day 1: Meet at Kota Kinabalu airport and transfer to your choice of hotel.
We recommend you to stay at Beverly hotel if your flight landed late in
the afternoon. For those who arrived in the morning we transfer you to
Mesliau Nature Resort which takes 3 hours drive and through the scenic
countryside and witness the breathtaking view of the mountain range. Stop
at Nabalu, a typical native market along the way. We continue our journey
to Mesilau Nature Resort which is situated 2000 m above sea level at the
foot of Mount Kinabalu. In this amazing nature lover paradise, you have
the
opportunity to take a walk along the nature trail to see different
species of pitcher plant. (Dinner)

Day 2: After breakfast proceed to the starting point of your mountain
scaling trip. One extraordinary sign is that as your climb the
vegetation changes from oak and chestnut forest
to mossy forest and eventually to alphine vegetation when you reach at
11000m at the mountain hut. (Breakfast, Packed lunch, Dinner)

Day 3: This morning at 0300hrs we
ascend to the summit of Mt Kinabalu in time for the sunrise. We then
return to Laban Rata for your breakfast before descend to Park HQ.  Have
your lunch at Balsam Cafe and we proceed to travel overland to Kota
Kinabalu. Either you put overnight at Beverly hotel or onward flight
home. (Breakfast, Lunch)

Mountain hut is very basic with
bed bunk only and in certain mountain hut there is no heater so see
below the requirement for the climb.

Requirement for the Climb:
Warm clothes, raincoat, torchlight, water bottle, rucksack, sleeping
bag, toilet and bath kit and a small first Aid kit.

Includes :  Scheduled return land transfer per itinerary, 1night
accommodation mesilau nature resort(Twin sharing basis) & 1night
accommodation at mountain hut, Meals as stated (2B/2L/2D), Climbing

Climb Mt Kinabalu 2 Days 1 Night Package

Day 1: KOTA KINABALU / KINABALU PARK HQ / TIMPOHON GATE / ASCEND
MOUNT KINABALU / LABAN RATA

7am: We pick you up from hotel and depart on a 2 hours journey to Kinabalu Park Headquarters where you will collect your packed lunch.

9am: Our licensed guide will arrange all your necessary registrations, assign you a mountain guide and give you an ID Tag to be worn at all times.

You will then proceed to Timpohon Gate, the starting point of your journey to conquer Mount Kinabalu. This first part of the climb will take you around 4-5 hours depending on your level of fitness and speed.

There are 6 shelters along the way for you to refill your water bottle and take a rest. Enjoy the panoramic view of the rainforest. You will pass beautiful vegetation that changes as you go higher, from Oak and Chestnut to mossy and later alpine vegetations.

3:30pm: We will arrive at Laban Rata and check into the rest house or similar in late afternoon. 7pm: We will be served buffet dinner at Laban Rata restaurant and we stay overnight there. (Packed lunch, Buffet Dinner)

 

Day 2: LOW’S PEAK / DESCEND MOUNT KINABALU / KOTA KINABALU

2am: We will wake up early for supper. Remember to bring along your flash light and camera.  We then depart for continuation of journey towards the summit of Mount Kinabalu. The climb will be tough and will be towards Low’s peak (4,095.2m). you will  test your level of fitness, grit and determination.

3:00 am - Your ultimate and final attempt to conquer the summits of Hugh Low’s Peak at 4,095.2. You are now on the peak of Mount Kinabalu, the highest peak of South East Asia.

5:45 am – This is the time to witness the spectacular sunrise, the most breath taking view you will ever see.

7:00 am – We will now descend to Laban Rata for breakfast.

10:00 am – Check out and proceed to Timpohon Gate for transfer back to Kinabalu Park Headquarters. We will arrive between 1pm-3pm. Your guide will register with the park authorities that you have completed the climb. You will then be given a certificate of achievement for completion of the climb.

Lunch will be served at the Balsam restaurant in Kinabalu Park. We will then transfer you back to Kota Kinabalu city which will take you 2 hours or you have the choice to take an optional tour to Poring Hot Spring to soak your sore limbs in the hot spring there. ( Early Supper, Breakfasts and Lunch)
